    About half of men over 50 experience male pattern baldness to varying degrees, and about 50 percent of women over 65 experience significant hair loss. Many men lose their hair from androgenetic alopecia as early as the age of 18 and have a progressive and inexorable loss if not treated. Typically hair loss (alopecia) is caused by a combination of genetic and hormonal factors that cause the follicles to become progressively smaller until they completely shrink and stop producing hair. Injections of PRP into the scalp slow down or in many cases reverse this shedding process hair because they release growth factors that have multiple effects on hair growth.

    How does PRP work?

    Human blood contains mesenchymal stem cells and autologous blood products they contain essential and specific growth factors that aid tissue regeneration and healing. The literature medical-scientific published in Europe and the United States confirms the safety of the use of PRP therapy.

    How is the PRP procedure performed?

    The blood is collected with special PRP Tubes in our center, we perform a preliminary routine blood test at the our laboratories, prior to therapy to ensure the safety and appropriateness of blood values. The blood is then centrifuged in a prp centrifuge and the PRP is separated and removed from the rest of the blood. We use a closed sterile system authorized by the Reference Transfusion Center.

    Platelets are concentrated to efficacy values ​​and these values ​​are validated. The system eliminates the granulocytes that damage tissue regeneration and wound healing. The highly concentrated platelet rich plasma (PRP) is then injected into the scalp.

    ​After the procedure the patient can drive home without any assistance. It is not performed no sedation and no medication is administered that during the procedure that inhibits the ability to drive or use machines.

    PRP contains many growth factors that stimulate hair follicle growth. PRP can be used preoperatively, intraoperatively, or after surgery. For some patients it is indicated to perform PRP therapy every three (3) to four (4) months as some scientific data suggest others are sufficient regular six-monthly treatments with PRP, to stimulate hair growth.

    THE SCIENCE OF PRP

    The PRP contains special cells called platelets, which may be capable of stimulate the growth of hair follicles, stimulating stem cells and others cells in the microenvironment of the hair follicle.

    These special cells, the platelets promote healing, accelerate speed and degree of tissue healing and regeneration, respond to damage, and stimulate the formation of new growth cell phone. The main purpose of using the PRP for hair loss is to stimulate inactive or newly implanted hair follicles in a phase of active growth. Inside the platelets there are many intracellular structures such as glycogen, lysosomes and alpha granules . These granules inside the PRP contain clotting factors and growth that are to eventually released during the the process of healing and repair.

    The specific PRP cells that cause hair growth are:

    Platelet-derived Growth Factor (PDGF) - promotes blood vessel growth, cell replication , skin formation;

    Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-b) - promotes matrix growth between cells, bone metabolism ;

    Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) - promotes blood vessel formation;

    Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) - promotes cell growth and differentiation, blood vessel formation, collagen formation;

    Fibroblast Growth Factor-2 (FGF-2) - promotes growth of specialized cells and blood vessel formation ;

    Insulin-Like Growth Factor (IGF) - a regulator of normal physiology in almost every cell type in the body will eventually shrink completely and stop producing hair.

    Injections of PRP (platelet rich plasma) into the scalp slow down or in many cases reverse this hair loss process because they release various growth factors that have multiple effects on hair growth.
