For a minor sinus infection, no medical treatment may be necessary. The symptoms of the condition can be managed with rest, appropriate medication, nasal saline sprays, and hydration.

For a more severe sinus infection, seek professional medical care at our urgent care clinic. Prolonged symptoms could indicate a bacterial sinus infection which may require prescription medication. If you are struggling with breathing, we offer solutions to clear your sinuses.

At first, strep throat feels like any other sore throat. However, strep throat distinguishes itself quickly. Unlike the common cold, strep throat doesn’t typically cause cough, runny nose, or sneezing.  Typical symptoms may include fever, pain (especially when swallowing), swollen or red tonsils and red spot on the roof of the mouth.  If you or your child is experiencing any of these symptoms, or you are concerned you might have strep, don’t wait around in the emergency room come to Founders Family Medicine and let us take care of you!

Arthritis symptoms can appear in patients of all ages. However, arthritis is commonly seen in older patients, and the symptoms typically become more severe with age. According to various studies, almost two thirds of people suffering from obesity are at risk for hypertension.  Weight loss is an important factor in managing obesity-related hypertension. Weight loss can lead to a reduction in blood pressure. Early intervention is necessary to avoid potential cardiovascular risks in obese patients with hypertension. It is also important to create a comprehensive strategy for managing obesity and reducing long-term cardiovascular risks.  Obesity can also have other long term, detrimental effects.

If you are suffering from chronic obesity and/or already have or are at risk for hypertension, visit Founders Family Medicine.  We offer treatment for patients who are overweight or obese. We recognize that there are factors other than individual choices that contribute to obesity. Factors such as family history, physical activity, environment, and diet can affect the prevalence of obesity.

What causes diabetes varies by the type of diabetes. Regardless of the type of diabetes you have, it can result in an elevated blood sugar level. Excessive levels of sugar in the bloodstream can cause health issues.

Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes are both chronic forms of diabetes. Prediabetes and gestational diabetes are both potentially reversible diabetes conditions. Blood sugar levels above the normal range, which do not meet the criteria for full diabetes, indicate prediabetes.  Prediabetes can develop into diabetes if preventive measures are not taken. A simple fasting blood test can determine if you have diabetes or are at risk for diabetes.

If you are concerned that you or a member of your family may have, or be at risk for, diabetes, come to Founders Family Medicine healthcare clinic so we can help you.  We have a holistic approach to treating diabetes including weight management (if needed), nutrition, lifestyle education and medication (as needed).

What are we doing to protect you and your family during the COVID pandemic?

All patients are screened for possible COVID-19 symptoms and potential exposure. Telehealth audio-visual appointments are available to those who are unwell, and limited examinations will be performed onsite as deemed necessary by the medical team. Parking lot testing is also available.

Patients who are unable to access telehealth technology due to a national emergency can be offered phone appointments in certain situations.

Masks are mandatory and social distancing must be followed in the clinic. All surfaces and common areas are regularly disinfected to reduce the risk of COVID for our patients, staff and providers. Routine and preventative services are currently provided in-person, though operation could change to full remote if COVID 19 cases in the community warrant it.
