Burani raita is a very flavorful and delicious Hyderabadi style raita made with burnt garlic, few spices, and creamy yogurt.

Hyderabadi Burani Raita

Burani or Bhurani raita is a rich and creamy garlic flavored raita that is paired very well with biryanis, Nawabi curries, and pulao. It is very popular in Hyderabad and people love this masala curd with their favorite dishes.

This is very easy to make and tastes absolutely divine. So all you need to do is whisk yogurt and add the rest of the ingredients in it.

Basic Ingredients for Burani Raita:

  • First, Yogurt-Home made or thick store bought yogurt.
  • Garlic-Minced garlic cloves.
  • Green chilli-Finely chopped green chilli for a bit of heat.
  • Roasted cumin powder
  • Salt

How to make Bhurani Raita?

Bhurani raita is very easy to put together.Whisk the yogurt and add the rest of the ingredients. Keep the prepared raita in refrigerator and serve chilled.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the bhurani raita with your favorite Hyderabadi dish. I served it with masoor dal biryani.

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups yogurt
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • few mint leaves chopped
  • 1 green chilli chopped
  • salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl add yogurt and whisk until smooth.
  • Add roasted cumin powder, mint leaves, green chillies and salt to taste .Mix well and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a saucepan and add garlic cloves. Stir and cook until golden and fragrant.
  • Add this garlic into the yogurt and mix well.
  • Keep refrigerated and serve as desired.

Notes

If you don’t prefer the burnt garlic flavors you may add minced raw garlic.

  1. It has been ages since I made this Hyderabad special raita ! It has a flavor which is to die for ! The garlic tastes so so good ! The raira looks awesome , thanks for reminding , will make it soon .
