Are you new to the world of vision care and looking for your first pair of prescription lenses?  Or maybe you are looking to switch from the type of lenses you have always used.  Whatever the case, Loch Effects offers every lens type complete with the most sophisticated technology and coatings; all available to be fitted in Loch’s exclusive line of Canadian-made frames.

    1. Prescription Type:

How the lens will correct your vision.

    Single Vision

Single vision lenses correct one field of vision as determined by your prescription: near, intermediate, or distance.  If you would like to add a little boost to the bottom of your lens for reading, which can help with eye fatigue, talk to a Loch customer service representative and request Eyezen lenses.

    Progressives

Progressive lenses correct near, intermediate, and distance fields of vision in one lens.  Loch uses a quality progressive lens but you can also upgrade to our Varilux series of lenses for a wider field of view and enhanced progressions.

    Readers

Readers do not require a prescription and offer simple magnification for up-close activities.

    2. Lens Technology

    Blue Light Filtering

Loch’s blue light blocking lenses filter out the harmful blue light projected by most mobile devices and computer screens.  If you are in front of a screen for a good portion of the day, you may want to consider protecting your eyes with Loch’s next-gen Blue Light Filtering lenses.

    Transitions

Loch used branded Transition Gen 8 lenses, which detect when you change your environment in order to rapidly transition from clear to tinted grey, brown, or green, blocking out UV rays and allowing you to use one pair of glasses for inside and outside activities.

    Polarized Sunglasses

Loch’s polarized sunglasses cut out glare, enhance clarity and contrast while blocking out harmful UV rays, absorbing 85% of visible light.  They are available in grey, green or bronze tints and you can even request custom mirrored options.

    3. Index or Lens Material:

    1.5 Plastic

A common lens material that comes standard on our Plant eyeglasses.  Excellent clarity and good pricing make this a great all-around lens option.

    1.6 Polycarbonate

Thinner, virtually unbreakable, and well priced, this material comes standard with our Plant sunglasses and all Wood eyeglasses and sunglasses.

    1.67 High Index lens

Recommended for prescriptions thicker than -/+4, a high index upgrade will greatly reduce the thickness and weight of the lenses for a more comfortable and better-looking pair of glasses.

    1.74 High Index lens

The thinnest and lightest lens available is a good choice if your prescription normally results in a very thick lens.  It is available by request so consult with a Loch specialist first.

    4. Coatings

All Loch lenses come standard with anti-reflective and scratch-resistant coatings:

    Anti-reflective coating

This coating is applied to the backside of the lens and greatly reduces reflections that bounce off the lens and into the eye. All Loch lenses come standard with AR protection.

    Scratch-resistant coating

All Loch lenses come with a hard coat that helps reduce the chance of your lenses being scratched.

    Crizal EC

Crizal is an optional upgrade that greatly enhances the resistance to scratches, smudges, and glare while boosting the standard lens coating warranty from one year to two years.

    Crizal Prevencia

This special coating combines the benefits of Crizal EC with blue light blocking filter.  If you checkout choosing a blue light filter and Crizal, this is the coating you will receive.

    Crizal Sapphire 360

This Crizal coating offers the most aesthetically pleasing lens tint, which is a great choice for people who are more sensitive to the colored tints any coating has.  By request only.

    Crizal Rock

Rock combines the protections of Crizal EC with an advanced scratch coating that is up to 3X more scratch resistant than other coatings making it a great option for active lifestyles.  By request only.

That about does it!  Talk to a Loch customer service representative to better understand how these options can be combined to provide you with the best vision experience possible.
