  You may observe that the October release date is perilously close to the supposed release date of both next-gen consoles, the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, which have both been slated for "some time" in November 2020.

  As FIFA 21 is coming out in October, this suggests it will for sure be playable on current-gen consoles like the Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, etc-- but will that then extend to the newer consoles?

  Sony has yet to verify if this will be a feature on the PS5, but we would be surprised if it didn't push out the ability to update free of charge between PS4 and PS5, merely to remain in competitors with Microsoft.
