India cricket team defeated the West Indies in the final Test match at Sabina Park in Jamaica. They whitewashed the hosts in all formats of the event. India registered 318 runs in the live score during the first Test then they made a massive 257-run.

Hanuma Vihari was adjudged as the Player of the Match in the final Test match. He achieved the feat of being the fifth batsman to score a hundred and fifty in red-ball cricket. During the first innings, he scored 111 then 53 in the second innings.

He received a lot of praise from his team members. In the dressing room, the team applauded him for his great contribution in the Test series. Team captain Virat Kohli also lauded praise for Vihari and called him as ‘find of the series’ for displaying his outstanding skills.

As he hit his maiden century, he dedicated it to his late father who died when he was 12 years old. He made a promise to himself that when he plays international cricket, he will dedicate his first hundred to his father.

Hanuma Vihari spoke about the advice that Shastri gave him after the first innings which helped him. ‘He was talking about flexing my knees a little bit. I was little upright in the first innings and that I could try out flexing my knees a little bit so that I could move my feet both on the front foot and the back foot. It worked pretty well. You can see the score reflect itself. So a lot of credit should go to him’, he said.

Following the conclusion of the West Indies tour, India will have a home T20I and Test series against South Africa. It will begin on September 15 and the Test matches will be played on October. The red-ball matches will form part of the ICC World Test Championship
