Have you ever applied for any kind of verification with the police?

Why did you require walking through such inquiry?

Well, the stamp of police verification ensures that you have clean record; you haven’t committed any crime ever; you have never been a part of any criminal offense.

Let’s catch on more about the certificate of police verification.

    1. What is the Police Clearance Certificate?

The legal proof of having no criminal background is issued by the regional police commissioner. The investigation officer scrutinizes address, identity and criminal records personally. Thereafter, he furthers the application form. Finally, the police commissioner puts his stamp on it. This licit document is known as a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC).

    1. Why & When do you need it?

At several stages, the need for police certificate can arise. Be it immigration process or employment proposition, legalities would be incomplete without it. I’ve shortlisted the causes when you require it on an urgent basis.

    • For Passport, visa & their renewal: It’s a significant document. Every country’s immigration authority needs to do the needful investigations before permitting entry. It’s all done to prevent the trespassing of the vulnerable elements. Therefore, the countries take preventive measures by seeking PCC from the expats.
    • For Employment: Many companies/organisations take preventive steps for avoiding potential threats to their repute. By seeking this document, they ensure recruitment of the invulnerable (to crime) candidates.
    1. Who does issue it?

Locally, its issuance is the domain of police administration. The police commissioner issues it generally. But if the applicant is living abroad, he/she can apply at the embassy of the country.

But there are scenarios when the applicant has spent several months or years in diverse countries. In this situation, he/she ought to apply for the police certificate in all embassies.

Let’s say, you are an NRI living in the US. But your business proposition takes you to the UAE, Mumbai and Australia. Meanwhile, you have to renew the visa of the US.  The immigration authority would definitely ask for this certificate from all the countries where you lived. Therefore, you have to go to the Indian embassy or How to apply for the police clearance certificate. Also, visit the embassy of UAE & Australia to get this proof.
