    First Monday Trade Days may be a well-known occasion in East Texas, but that doesn't mean that it can't keep hundreds of thousands of visitors from visiting this city Canton for four days every month. Open from Thursday through Sunday, until the beginning of the month on the First Monday each month, hundreds and vendors set up shop with hundreds of opportunities for shopping.

    According the website of the First Monday Trade Days website, it is one of the oldest and largest continuously operating outdoor fleamarket on the United States.


    According to those who are in those who trade on market sites, idea of First Monday Trade Days started in the year 1850 when the circuit judge was able to take a journey from Canton on the First Monday of every month. Everyone from across the county came to the city to participate in their court cases. In canton first monday , residents would bring their own merchandise, whether it was livestock, food items, as well as other objects of origin, to trade or sell. Then in 1965 First Monday outgrew the town's Town Square so it was relocated to the present site. The rest is history...


    First Monday Trade Days is made up of a variety of private sellers . The chances are, no matter how many times you go it's impossible to truly see all. The flea-market is situated on hundreds of acres and over 700,00 square feet of space for shopping.


    Participating in First Monday is free, but the majority of the parking spaces surrounding the trade grounds charge $5 to park.
